He Liked Living This Way... He Liked Loving This Way...

I'm still on a Michael Jackson high... I sat at home last night watching the MJ memorial service... It was absolutely heartbreaking. Maybe not the service itself but more so the fact that the world has to live without the King of Pop. He made music what it is today... He made my childhood what it was back in the 80's and 90's. To me, he was not only a musical icon but a fashion one too. He took bold steps with his outfits and made them fashion statements, he ventured into unknown territory with his style and wasn't afraid to do so. Because of Michael Jackson's daring style, he made sequins what they are today: cool and trendy (just look at s/s '09 fashion shows) instead of tacky and trashy (a la strip clubs). From his staple sequin white glove to his sequin socks, and his many sequin military jackets, MJ helped remind us that fashion is not only about following trends but creating them too. He is, was, and always will be someone who transcends space and time, a person that was placed on this Earth for the sole purpose of making a change and leaving an undeniable mark on it.
There's a gap now, an empty space where people the world over will say for generations to come that there once lived a musical legend, a talent unlike no other, who no matter how many times has fallen always managed to pick himself up and try again.
I am glad to have lived during that time to have seen the legend soar high and I with great confidence can proclaim that there will never ever ever be another Michael Jackson.
